Job Summary
The Senior Network & Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting the network and systems infrastructure of Afrocentric IP (Pty) Ltd and its clients. This role ensures the availability, security and performance of critical IT infrastructure while providing senior-level technical expertise, leading complex infrastructure projects, and mentoring junior engineering staff.
Key Responsibilities
🌐 Network & Systems Architecture and Design
- Design and implement robust, scalable network and systems architectures aligned with business and client requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, infrastructure upgrades and tools to improve performance, resilience and scalability.
- Develop and maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation and configuration records.
- Ensure infrastructure designs align with security best practices and compliance requirements.
🖥 Infrastructure Support, Maintenance & Availability
- Provide senior-level technical support for enterprise network and systems infrastructure.
- Perform proactive monitoring, maintenance and capacity planning across network and server environments.
- Lead the resolution of complex and escalated technical incidents within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Conduct regular health checks, firmware updates, software patching and preventative maintenance to ensure system integrity.
🔒 Security, Risk & Compliance
- Implement and maintain network and systems security controls in accordance with company policies and industry best practices.
- Conduct security assessments and coordinate vulnerability remediation across managed infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, client standards and internal security policies.
- Support Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) planning for critical infrastructure.
🚀 Project Delivery & Mentorship
- Lead infrastructure implementation and upgrade projects from planning through completion.
- Deliver assigned projects on time and within budget.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior Network and Systems Engineers.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best-practice technical documentation.
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous skills development across the engineering team.

📈 Network & Systems Architecture (30%)
- Achieve 95% infrastructure designs delivered to specification without major rework.
- Maintain 98% documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Implement 4 or more infrastructure improvement initiatives annually.
⚙ Infrastructure Support & Availability (30%)
- Maintain 99.5% infrastructure uptime and availability.
- Resolve 95% of escalated incidents within agreed SLAs.
- Achieve 98% compliance with planned maintenance and patching schedules.
🛡 Security, Risk & Compliance (20%)
- Remediate 95% of identified vulnerabilities within agreed timelines.
- Maintain 98% compliance with security policies and audit requirements.
📋 Project Delivery & Mentorship (20%)
- Deliver 90% of assigned infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
- Conduct at least two mentoring or knowledge-sharing sessions per quarter.
Qualifications & Experience
